Logos: Ancient Greek Through the Nature Method

Description

This class teaches the basics of Ancient Greek with the new book “Logos” (published by Cultura Clásica). Logos is a unique textbook that uses the “inductive method”, i.e.: You will learn grammar and vocabulary in context through reading and speaking, rather than through drills and translations. The book is similar in style to Hans Orberg’s Familia Romana (see the sample pages below).

For Whom Is this Course?

  • beginners with no or limited experience learning Ancient Greek
  • “false” beginners who know some Greek already but want a systematic refresher / are interested in learning to speak Ancient Greek
  • teachers of Ancient Greek interested in the active method

Karolina Doušová

Karolina teaches Latin and Ancient Greek as living languages in Prague (at Charles University and at “Gymnázium Jaroslava Seiferta”). She has taught various spoken Latin and Greek classes, in person as well as online, e.g. Caelum and Οὐρανός for Cultura Clásica in Madrid, Spain.

How many students are there in each class?

Classes are capped at six students.

What pronunciation do you use?

We use the Erasmian pronunciation of Ancient Greek.

How do I register?

What happens after I register?

You should receive an immediate confirmation email into your inbox. We will then contact you (within a working day), asking you about your experience with Ancient Greek so far as well as giving further information about the course and how to pay.

What payment methods do you offer?

We are currently offering the following payment methods:

Please note that for payments via PayPal or credit card, there will be charged an additional 5% of the course fee to cover the transaction costs.

What happens if I need to cancel the class?

You can cancel your registration any time via email. If you cancel before a class has started, you will receive a full refund of the course fee you have paid minus a ten percent administration fee. If you have to cancel a class that has already started, you will receive a partial refund in direct proportion to the number of classes that you already have attended minus the ten percent administration fee. For example: If you have to cancel half way in of a course, you will receive a 50% refund minus 10% percent of the originally paid course fee.
